Junior Web Applications Developer – Norwalk, CT

Akademos, Inc., a high-growth ecommerce Internet company working to help reduce textbook costs for students, is looking for a junior web applications developer. Candidates must have a background in developing, testing, implementing, and maintaining web-based application systems.

Primary responsibilities for this position include monitoring, maintaining and looking for opportunities to improve systems under the guidance of senior IT staff. Ideal candidates will combine a broad technical skill set with strong attention to details, and the ability to work in a fast paced, start-up like environment. Candidates must also be self-motivated and have the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Minimum Job Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years of experience as a web developer
  • Strong experience working in LINUX environments
  • Intermediate or better skill with PHP and/or Ruby, MySQL and JavaScript
  • BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience

Preferred, but not required:

  • Experience with ecommerce applications
  • Experience with Agile methodology and SDLC
  • Fluent in Russian

 

Junior IT Business Analyst – Norwalk, CT

Akademos, Inc., a high-growth ecommerce Internet company working to help reduce textbook costs for students, is looking for a junior business analyst. Candidates must have a background in reviewing, analyzing and evaluating business requirements, business systems and user needs in order to interface effectively with developers in consulting and producing task outlines. To be considered for this position candidates must have an interest in technology and strong computer skills, superlative communication skills in both written and verbal form and the ability to partner with multiple business partners.

Primary responsibilities for this position will include the organization of task needs and the clear communication of them to the broader IT group for implementation.  This position will also include aspects of project management, especially in the management of project goals and timeframes with third-party clients or providers.  Candidates must be able to proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential risks, and devise contingency plans and gap analyses as needed.

Minimum Job Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years of experience as a business analyst, project manager, or related field
  • Strong written and verbal skills
  • BA or BS in a technical or business field relevant to the position

Preferred, but not required:

  • Technical knowledge or background
  • Work experience in web retail or academic industry

 

Account Manager – Norwalk, CT

Akademos, Inc., a high-growth ecommerce Internet company working to help reduce textbook costs for students, is looking for an Account Manager to join their team. As an Account Manager, you will have the opportunity to work with multiple business divisions and on various projects. Candidates must be personable and possess strong computer skills, including all standard MS Office applications.

Primary responsibilities for this position include building positive working relationships with new clients and solving problems proactively to enhance the customer experience. This position will also include marketing and sales outreach efforts, working with other departments to monitor and improve client sales, and managing the overall client relationship and performance.

Minimum Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Strong computer skills and experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and various web browsers
  • Excellent communication skills via email and phone
  • Very organized with a strong attention to detail

Preferred, but not required:

  • Some experience (including internships or part-time jobs) in marketing, business development, or sales/client services
